Biography

Jia Zhang is a Senior Research Officer at the Faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture, the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney). Jia Zhang is a Senior Research Officer at the Faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture, the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney). He holds a PhD in translation studies from UNSW Sydney, a Master of Translation and Interpreting in English-Chinese Interpreting, and a Bachelor of Arts in Translation from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. With over 12 years of teaching experience, Jia has lectured in translation and interpreting across multiple academic institutions, including Sun Yat-sen University (2012-2018), Beijing Normal - Hong Kong Baptist University (2018-2022), and UNSW Sydney (2023-now). Jia is also a certified translator in Chinese into English and English into Chinese (2023-now), accredited by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) in Australia and a level II translator (2009-now) and level II interpreter (2012-now) certified by the China Accreditation Test for Translators and Interpreters (CATTI), with over 18 years of professional experience. Jia’s research interests include translation technology, translator training, and audiovisual translation, with his current research centred on integrating machine translation into translator training. His research has been published in The Interpreter and Translator Trainer, Journal of Specialised Translation, Across Languages and Cultures, edited volumes by Routledge, Peter Lang and Springer, and the Proceedings of Machine Translation Summit.
