Professional Biography

I am a Lecturer at UNSW Art, Design & Architecture, where I have been teaching 3D visualisation, animation and media arts since March 2014. With over 10 years in higher education and more than 20 years of animation and visual art practice, I bring extensive industry experience to my teaching approach, fostering creative exploration within supportive studio-class environments.

As an educator, I am committed to encouraging students to explore their creative potential while onboard with industry trends and educational methodologies. My dual perspective as both practitioner and educator allows me to connect theoretical knowledge with practical application, preparing students for contemporary creative industries.

My creative practice has encompassed writing and directing two short animations that received Screen Australia funding and garnered multiple awards and nominations. Notable recognition includes a nomination for Best Short Film for 'Pending' at the Venice Film Festival in 2002. I also contributed to the SBS-supported animation series "Heirlooms," which achieved international recognition with a shortlisting at the prestigious Annecy Animation Festival in 2011.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of collaborating with filmmakers, artists, and designers on inspiring projects. Recent highlights include co-leading a team of UNSW art and design students in partnership with internationally renowned designer Bruce Mau to create a multi-screen animation for his "Design For All the Senses" solo performance in Sydney in 2022. In August 2025, I collaborated with Melbourne-based artist Fiona Cabassi on an audio-visual installation. I developed a multi-layered soundscape using combined diegetic and electronic audio techniques to complement her visual work.
