Dr Juhrmann is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow within UNSW Medicine & Health and the Behavioural Sciences Unit (BSU), the largest psychological research group in child/adolescent cancer in Australasia. She is a palliative care and health services researcher with a clinical, research and policy background in paramedicine, aged care and public health. At the BSU, Dr Juhrmann's work focuses on paediatric and adolescent/young adult (AYA) palliative care projects, including the development of an evidence-based model of care for young people with cancer that introduces and integrates palliative care in proactive and targeted ways, concurrent to active treatment across the cancer care trajectory.
Dr Juhrmann's research interests span palliative paramedicine, public health approaches to palliative care and reducing avoidable hospital admissions at end of life. Her PhD explored the role of paramedics in delivering palliative and end-of-life care in Australian communities and developed a comprehensive framework to standardise best practice nationally. Dr Juhrmann is a recipient of the Early Career Researcher Grant from the Australasian College of Paramedicine, to translate her doctoral findings into practice. She also contributes internationally as a member of the European Association of Palliative Care’s Taskforce on Palliative Care and Emergency Medical Services.
