Tasnia Alam Hannan is a Lecturer at the Centre for Social Impact UNSW, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses on social entrepreneurship, business for social impact, social impact investment, and collaboration for impact. A former Associate Director at NSW Treasury and an admitted lawyer, Tasnia brings a decade of cross-sectoral experience spanning public policy, law, finance, and social innovation, her work advances social and economic justice through interdisciplinary approaches.

Tasnia's career bridges multiple sectors and disciplines. She previously served as an Associate Director at NSW Treasury, where she shaped economic strategy and led the allocation of significant funding toward social and infrastructure programs. She continues to advocate for policy reform, and build cross-sector collaborations that drive systemic change.

She is Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Arise Foundation, an award-winning, nationally recognised organisation that supports women survivors of domestic violence, financial abuse, and modern slavery to achieve financial independence through employment pathways. Through Arise, she leads strategic direction, manages high-profile stakeholder relationships, secures funding, and drives policy advocacy, positioning recovery and healing as central to long-term economic security.

Tasnia's research and work focus on gender lens investing, Islamic social finance, social enterprise, and the intersection of social impact and human rights law. She is currently undertaking a PhD in Law at Western Sydney University, focusing on a rights-based, decolonial framework for gender lens investing that centres the lived experiences of refugee women in Australia.

Tasnia was recognised as one of the 40 Under 40 Most Influential Asian Australians in 2023 and serves as a Non-Executive Director and advisor across various policy and social impact initiatives.
