Dr Bo Lin (She/Her) completed her PhD in 2023 at UNSW Sydney. Her doctoral research centred on the fire safety of polymeric materials, with complementary work on antimicrobial functionality. Her research areas include flame-retardant polymers and coatings, functional textiles, polymer–surface interfaces, and materials characterisation, with broader links to thermal safety and sustainable materials engineering.

She is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. Dr Lin connects fundamental materials design with application-oriented evaluation, works collaboratively across disciplines, and supports student supervision and laboratory capability. She has published peer-reviewed journal articles and a book chapter, contributes to editorial and reviewing activities, and regularly presents at international conferences. Her work is guided by rigorous experimentation, transparent reporting, and the translation of materials science into safer, durable and sustainable solutions.

My Research Activities

  • A novel fire-resistant spray to make clothes more fire-resistant. The coating adds a layer of protection to the material, slowing down the rate it burns. More details are available (link).
