My research interests are in radio, millimetre and sub-millimetre astronomy, molecular line astronomy, bioastronomy and computational astrophysics.

I head the Exoplanetary Science at UNSW research group within the Australian Centre for Astrobiol

Alan Woodland is currently Scientia Professor of Economics in the School of Economics within the Australian School of Business at the University of New South Wales.

BSc (UQ, 1974), PhD (ANU, 1979), BA (UNSW, 1988). Postdocs at Cornell, CSIRO, ANU. Invited professorship at the Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris. 

My background is in physics. I research electrical properties of membranes surrounding living plant cells. Many life processes involve moving ions in and out of the cell.
