I am an academic cardiologist and clinical trialist based in Liverpool, NSW, Australia.
Professor and Chair of Cardiovascular Research in South Western Sydney and a consultant cardiologist at Liverpool Hospital in South Western Sydney Local Health District.
I began my career in Japan before spending time at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA, the Menzies Institute for Medical Research, University of Tasmania, the Royal Hobart Hospital, and most recently the University of Sydney and the Nepean Hospital. I founded an echo laboratory in Gunma University Japan, where I led a multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, cardiology trainees, sonographers, and students. Now the echo lab is one of the leading academic echo labs in Japan. I regularly attend national and international conferences (AHA, ACC, ESC, ASE, EAVCI) to present out cutting-edge research output.

My Research Activities
My research work spans from basic science to clinical research and epidemiology. My main pillars of research are:
- Therapeutic application of ultrasound (Sonothrombolysis)
- Multimodality Imaging (Echo, CT, MRI)
- Cardio-oncology (SUCCOUR trial)
- Environmental Cardiology, especially air pollution/heat and CVD
Two of my works (Negishi JASE 2013, EHJ_CVI 2014) were adopted to six international clinical guidelines and recommendations of cardiology/oncology societies. These guidelines are used by over 107,000 cardiology and > 70,000 oncology members globally (>150 countries). My work on air pollution and heart disease attracted a great deal of interest, including TV, radio, and newspapers, reaching 434 million people globally.
