Dr George Nkrumah Enninful is a microbiologist and molecular biotechnologist whose research focuses on the discovery, engineering, and characterisation of antimicrobial agents for sustainable infection control. His work explores recombinant synthesis of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) as a green and economically viable alternative to conventional chemical synthesis, addressing the growing global challenge of antimicrobial resistance.Dr Enninful’s doctoral research at the University of New South Wales centred on developing efficient recombinant expression systems for novel AMPs, with an emphasis on structural optimization, solubility enhancement, and activity retention. His studies combine molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and microbiological assays to antimicrobial peptide bioproduction and efficacy. Through his work, Dr Enninful seeks to advance antimicrobial innovation by integrating synthetic biology, microbiology, and biophysical analysis toward a more resilient and sustainable antimicrobial future.
