I am an experienced criminologist working in the Justice Health Research Program, at the School of Population Health, UNSW.
I have recently completed my PhD at the School of Population Health, UNSW. This looked at sexually transmissible infections in individuals who have come into contact with the Australian justice system. I used quantitative research and data linkage with the aim to further increase knowledge in this field and improve sexual health outcomes for this population.
During my professional career prior to my PhD, I have gained over four years work experience conducting both quantitative and qualitative research in places of detention (including prisons, immigration detention centres, court custody, police custody) and have worked with various stakeholders such as incarcerated populations (adults and children), prison staff, police officers, as well as local and international policy makers, organisations and academics.
I am passionate about prison and criminal justice reforms with most of my work aiming to improve outcomes for and the treatment of those who come into contact with the justice system.
I have expertise in data linkage, cohort studies, survey design, focus group delivery and interviews with vulnerable populations.
