Biography

Dr Nikola Mitrev completed a Bachelor of Medical Science in 2007 and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 2011, at the University of Sydney. Following this he was a JMO, RMO and BPT at the St George/ Sutherland Hospital network. Dr Nikola Mitrev completed a Bachelor of Medical Science in 2007 and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 2011, at the University of Sydney. Following this he was a JMO, RMO and BPT at the St George/ Sutherland Hospital network. He attained his Gastroenterology and Hepatology specialist qualifications at the end of 2018, having trained at Concord Hospital, Gosford/ Wyong Hospitals and the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. In 2019 he further completed a gastroenterology fellowship year at Blacktown hospital with a focus on IBD, where he subsequently stayed on as a consultant. In parallel to his gastroenterology advanced training, Dr Mitrev was awarded a Master’s degree from the University of Sydney for his work in the field of therapeutic drug monitoring-guided biologic drug therapy in IBD. Dr Mitrev has received several academic awards and research grants through the years. He continues to be active in research and medical education. Currently he is a staff specialist at Sutherland hospital and teaches UNSW students.
