Kristin (she/her) is a Postdoctoral Fellow in The Care Lab at the School of Social Sciences. Her research explores the social and structural determinants of experiences of caring, dying and grieving. Possessing a background in social work, Kristin has significant experience in practice, research and education (in both clinical and academic settings) related to end of life, health care, palliative care and bereavement. Her PhD thesis was recognised on the 2022 UTS Chancellor’s List and explored social and economic inequities encountered by carers of people with a life-limiting illness who receive forms of social welfare (specifically income support and public housing).

Kristin's research is informed by her substantial experience in specialist bereavement counselling and service coordination. In 2023, she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to the community through palliative care initiatives. Kristin is also an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers, and the national Bereavement Consultant Lead for Palliative Care Social Work Australia.
