I am an anatomist and educator with a background in laboratory-based research in stem cell biology and reproductive medicine. Earlier in my career, I held combined teaching and research positions and collaborated internationally on stem cell science. Over time, my focus has shifted toward transforming anatomy and medical education.

My work helps improve how students learn anatomy. histology and embryology by combining traditional cadaver-based teaching with digital and immersive learning tools. This supports students in developing practical skills and critical thinking for their future clinical practice. I also lead curriculum development and educational leadership initiatives in anatomy teaching at UNSW.

A key challenge I address is how to make complex concepts like human development, reproduction, and anatomical structures more accessible and engaging for diverse student cohorts. I work to support the next generation of healthcare professionals by improving their learning experiences.

To do this, I draw on my experience in both laboratory science and education. My work spans anatomy education research, digital learning innovation, and collaboration on improving how anatomy is taught in health and medical sciences.

My Qualifications

PhD in Anatomical Sciences (Graduated 2012, Tehran University of Medical Sciences); Thesis title: Differentiation of Bone Marrow-Derived SSEA-1+ Pluripotent Stem Cells into Male Germ Cells
MSc in Anatomical Sciences (Graduated 2006, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences); Thesis title: Effects of Failed Oocyte Activation and Sperm Protamine Deficiency on Fertilization Post-ICSI
BSc in Speech Pathology (Graduated 2003, Tehran University of Medical Sciences)

My Awards

Award for Adaptability & Innovation in Education, School of Medical Sciences, Medicine & Health, UNSW, Sydney, Australia, 2021

Distinguished Young Scientist Award, First International Stem Cell Congress, Kayseri, Turkey, 2011

My Research Activities

My research activities have evolved from laboratory-based investigations in stem cell biology and reproductive medicine to a focus on medical and anatomy education. In my earlier career, I contributed to international collaborations exploring stem cell technologies and their applications in reproductive medicine. More recently, my research has centered on improving the teaching and learning of anatomy, histology and embryology in medical and health science education. I investigate how digital tools, immersive learning platforms, and innovative teaching strategies can enhance student engagement and understanding of complex anatomical concepts. I am particularly interested in exploring students' learning experiences, curriculum design, and the integration of new technologies to support diverse learners. My work is collaborative and interdisciplinary, aiming to advance both educational practice and student learning outcomes.
