Mark’s research spans corporate finance, venture capital, and law. He also has a background in fund management. Mark founded Otso Capital, which managers a US-focused hedge fund and an open-ended venture fund. He also serves on the investment advisory committee of Australian Vision Research and the management committee of Sydney Angles, one of Australia's largest angel investing groups.

Mark has published more than 40 peer reviewed journal articles and received several major grants. His publicaitons include articles in the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative analysis, Review of Finance, Journal of Financial Intermediation, and Journal of Corporate Finance. Mark has also published leading management journals, such as Strategic Management Journal and Journal of International Business Studies.
